Does Marvel Studios have a 'Superhero Fatigue' Problem?

Evidenced by surprising box office numbers and mixed reviews, superhero fatigue has set in, making audiences desperate for something new. Hollywood experts began discussing "superhero fatigue" even before the pandemic, but it's become more prevalent in recent years. The #MCU and #DCEU have churned out films at a reliable pace for quite some time, and neither studio shows any signs of slowing down their release schedules. Although fans have continued flocking to theatres to see new superhero movies, there are several indications that audiences and critics are indeed experiencing so-called "superhero fatigue." From declines in positive reviews to less-predictable box office results, the #superhero movie genre may be headed for trouble.

Genre Fatigue is a myth. What people get tired of is bad movies and once a genre is saturated with bad movies people will just give up on that genre. They will decide it isn't worth risking their limited time for entertainment on movies that have a high chance of being bad.

Superheroes are still a very good movie concept in my opinion. The problem is that the industry is extremely divergent from their original consumer group, often attacking/insulting them directly... and claiming that "the movie didn't do well because the viewers are racist (or something)" doesn't really help those public reception.

They turned Marvel into shite long before actual genre fatigue could happen. Fatigue means the films are good, yet we're tired of seeing new ones regardless. That definitely doesn't describe the MCU of the past 7 years

It's not superhero fatigue, people are just bored of watching MCU. I don't think I will ever get tired of superhero movies

Yes! I wouldn't particularly get fatigued by a genre, but I am fatigued of their brand of it. I don't care what next sermon they want to preach or how they want to make Captain Midnight a twerking furry with depression or whatever is hot with the bitter and mentally ill right now.

The myth of superhero movie fatigue was started by people who didn't like superhero movies to begin with and for sure as hell can't stand that they're still making them Hollywood going through a trend of bad movies people that are cheering this on will be the same ones pretending that it never happened

Dude, I watch superhero movies and series since my kindergarten, and 20 years later I still watch them. Maybe ppl just put too much expectations, so that they get tired

I think that most new marvel shows tried too hard to be trendy, and were just mediocre.

There are so many superhero movies, and they got lazy writing. People, including me, are being choosy with which movies we'll see in the theater. Doesn't look good. I'll wait 2 months and stream

It's not fatigue it's bad writing and blatant pandering

I don't think superhero fatigue is real. MCU fatigue isn't even real. People just don't like bad movies. You would never think about Horror fatigue or comedy fatigue. This is all happening just because marvel are getting too dispassionate about their movies.
