Decade of Action

The Sustainable Development Goals are a first in human history—a global compact to create a future where nobody is left behind.

The 17 goals were adopted by all countries at the United Nations in September 2015.

They encompass every aspect of human and planetary wellbeing; a universal call to action to end poverty, to protect Earth and ensure all people enjoy peace and prosperity.

They also come with a deadline: 2030

Goal # 12 COVID-19 response: The current crisis is an opportunity for a profound, systemic shift to a more sustainable economy that works for both people and the planet.
The emergence of COVID-19 has underscored the relationship between people and nature and revealed the fundamental tenets of the trade-off we consistently face: humans have unlimited needs, but the planet has limited capacity to satisfy them. We must try to understand and appreciate the limits to which humans can push nature, before the impact is negative. Those limits must be reflected in our consumption and production patterns.
COVID-19 can be a catalyst for social change. We must build back better and transition our production and consumption patterns towards more sustainable practices.

How are we going to achieve that utopia? Really have we ever achieved anything as humanity? We talk a lot, discuss a lot, plan a lot. But in the end, nothing comes out. We need strong cooperation. I believe global cooperation is the key to greater human development. If we don't cooperate, we are bound to vanish as humanity. One's who don't cooperate should not be called as a part of humanity. We need cooperation with strong consensus, with stronger unity and stronger actions. I believe it's very rare that the world community come to one point and utters one dialogue when coming to development. Every party, country, community have it's own interest, hopes, desires and beliefs. But we now have 17 goals where each party believes that the issue. But the question is about priority. Are we giving enough priority to those issues? Welcome to the decade of action. Because if we don't act we don't live!
