'Circular Reference in Texture Stack' error when baking Normal Maps

When baking Normal maps Blender will sometimes throw up and error; "Circular Reference in Texture Stack". Show in how to fix it.

Thanks for your help. I had a circular dependency error, and I solved it by removing all the materials while baking.

i read the article at Katsbits and its not clear to me the idea behind the problem.
That circular reference its exactly that, the low poly mesh has a normal map in its material and its trying to read it, its trying to read the same texture that its writing on the bake, the solution its not having a or several slots, the solution its bake the normals to a texture that its not being used by the low poly(to do it simpler a bit map witch is not being used)  did i miss something here?

I know I'm late to the party on this, but thank you *so* much for figuring this out and posting. Before I found this vid I was pretty close to punching myself in the face and giving up forever. T_T

For some odd reason I get a normal map of my low poly mesh.
These are my steps:
1- Low poly mesh and high poly mesh share the exact same space.
2- Low poly mesh has been UV unwrapped and a UV grid texture.
3- I follow your steps in this video; where I uncheck the UV grid texture and create a new empty one assigned as "image or movie".
4- I go to the render tab and under bake I select "normals" and "Selected to active".
5- I select my high poly first and my low poly second and hit "bake".
The result: a baked normal map from my low poly mesh.

My problem was solved by going into the materials and un-clicking "Face textures" at the bottom of the properties and baking only textures.

When I try this I lose my texture image colour

Does not help, still gives the error for a Full Render.
EDIT: Im an idiot sorry ;D

Well, this got rid of the error, but it's not baking /anything/, I'm just getting a flat blue sheet. D:
