HiPEAC 2024 Keynote 2: Sustainable computer systems – Lieven Eeckhout

Sustainability hasn't traditionally been high up on the computing systems research agenda, but as the environmental impact of information and communication technologies (ICT) grows, it is an increasingly important topic. In this arresting talk, Lieven Eeckhout (Ghent University) tackles the multifaceted problem of sustainability: from greenhouse gases, to raw-material extraction, to e-waste, to water use. He also sketches out some possible solutions, from accurate lifecycle assessments to new business models.
