I mean Garp NOT doing anything in the war was a big help, the pirates would've been at a huge disadvantage if Garp joined early on

Idk how people think it was easy for Garp to sit back and do nothing during the war. It even took everything in him to hold back against Luffy before he freed Ace. Not only that, but the fact that Coby is still alive, let alone getting promotions after the war, is a sign that Garp's influence is still strong and he's still helping make changes to the marines through education of pupils. At the end of the day, if all the top dogs of the marines go down, nothing will change the mindset of the marines if the new top dogs don't approach world order in a different way and that's Garp's end goal. Like Roger, he's betting on the new generation, but he can't help make those changes by letting his family get away with crimes. We may not agree that his is the best method, but that's why Garp exists. Each Monkey D family member represents a form of liberation. Garp wants people to feel liberated by the protection of marines, Dragon wants people to be liberated through their own hands without fear of world leaders, and Luffy believes everyone should be free full stop

Garp did also promise Roger that he'd look after his son and he has done that for a while, occasionally checking up on ace and Luffy one in a while but seeing Ace get murdered right there and then by Akainu definitely must have broken Garp and it straight up traumatized Luffy seeing Ace dying right in front of him like that

Sakazuki would of died if Sengoku didn't hold him back. Garp was not terminally ill like whiteBeard nor injured like Everyone else so if you think with more than 3 Braincells my argument makes sense.

Bro if Ace didn't die I'm positive he would have died another way Oda needed him to die for Luffy's character development I mean I'm not gonna lie Ace's death was tragic but we gotta look at it from a different perspective and see the full picture that's how I look at least

That’s so true, I never thought about it but Akainu’s actions would be better classified as murder as opposed to an execution. Especially with how dirty he played to get to Ace
