Couple of years back the oldest Greenland shark was caught. Its age was estimated to be about 400 years. Meaning that it was around when Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth was still around and was born when the Dutch East Indies company was still fairly new thing. At the time of American independence the shark was already over 150 years old.
