PureSalem Guitars: LA BRUJA

My fourth attempt at getting this video right. I mispronounced the guitar's name yesterday... D'oh! Anyway, onwards and upwards.

Recap:Psyche-rock looks, performance machine appointments, killer tones. The PureSalem gear just keeps getting better and better. This 24.75" scale, pink beastie they call La Bruja is a very slick ride. The gold-covered humbuckers aren't too hot and are crisp and clear. They've got the good bark too. Beautifully finished frets and fretboard, thin 'C' shaped neck profile and custom 'PS' branded Grover tuners complete the business end. Tonepros hardware locks it all down. La Bruja sports a mahogany body and neck. You need a certain confidence to wear a guitar like this on stage, but once you strap it on and give it a play, you'll feel good about all sorts of things. Great work, Mr Sell.

Well ok, that's definitely a shape I've never seen before! It's cool, love the t shirt Brett! This metal head approves 👍

I’ll take any excuse to listen to you play that guitar. I can tell it inspires you, how could it not? Excellent stuff again Burgs.

I’m really loving their guitars! It’s a really nice twist from the norm out there!

That is just ridiculously good. Very versatile instrument to say the least. As soon as you engage that Univibe, it's instant Jimi. "The whole is greater than the sum of the parts" is the phrase I think you were looking for. Like the t-shirt too!

I like the looks and sounds of that guitar. Love the graffiti yellow color version!

I also like that they kept it simple: one tone knob, one volume knob, and clear off of the strings to not get in the way.

I have to give to credit and throw ya some accolades. Well done 2x the guitar is cool. I would want a different color but the pickups just seems great and perfect for me. I’m hearing frequencies in there that l love. Again good job and thanks for your efforts. Blessings to you.

Watched y'day & the shapes growing on me... but the pickups are insanely good!
The ambient picking sounds great, sweet chimey ... add gain & they snarl like fk.
Cheers Burgs... & the flashing witch too!

I bought a La Bruja based on this review. Here are the problems I had with my guitar: 1. The pickup toggle was wired backwards. Up was bridge, down was neck. 2. Action was very high, and it was impossible to lower the bridge since it was already down against the body. Required installation of a neck shim to correct this. 3. Nut slots were cut too shallow. 4. Two frets were high and required filing and redressing. 5. This may just be due the way I play (seated), but when I hold the guitar normally I have to consciously avoid picking right over the bridge pickup and hitting it. Makes it uncomfortable to hold and play. Maybe with a strap it will be better, which I haven't tried yet.

On the upside, the owner was more than willing to pay for the repairs I had to have done. Other than the ergonomics issue, the guitar plays fine now. However, the manufacturer definitely has QC issues that need to be addressed. Even at the relatively low price point of these guitars, one would expect to receive a guitar that was reasonably playable out of the box from the factory. Mine was not.

Edit 1/31/23: I was under the impression that Puresalem guitars were made in South Korea. The La Bruja is made in Indonesia. Says so on the back of the headstock. Based on my past history with the poor quality of Indonesian-made guitars, I would not have bought this one had I known where it was really made. There's a lot of misinformation out there. Even though I did a bit of research before buying, I was still fooled. To be clear, the misinformation I received was based on Google search results, NOT on anything provided by Puresalem or its owner. The owner is a good and honest guy, and deserves your business.

The visual effects suit this guitar well...be-witching...or should I say be-bruja-ing?

I think "disrespect" is the last word anyone would ever use in describing any video of yours!
...want to know how to pronounce "Ibanez"?
Edit: "Cabronita" is still my favorite. Someone at Fender has a sense of humor.

Can you get these in Australia?
I am keen for one. It’s like they made it just for me.
Quirky yet classic. Could be in an indie band or a full on rock shred scenario.
