I ordered my Model 3 in April. It was delivered on September 13. I toyed with the idea of canceling the order and then ordering it again in 2023 to take advantage of the Federal Government rebate. However, I didn't want to wait another 5 months for delivery. I live in Illinois, and the State has a $4, 000 rebate for EVs purchased in July, Aug., and Sept. I'll take advantage of this program instead.

I like the switch between mall stores and larger locations. They should keep a set of floor models in nicer malls with 2-3 knowledgeable associates but the sales and other stuff should be handled at a dedicated location where you can see many options and take test drives.

Slight correction on the Woomera (actually Spud's Roadhouse at Pimba) South Australia "Supercharger". It is not a 220V wall outlet but a Three phase 415V socket capable of delivering 22kW, although I have a Model 3 so I only get 11kW. I have charged at this site twice and it was awesome.

The Australian EV Association has worked with all the Roadhouses between Woomera and Darwin to make these sockets available which makes travel in the area possible.

Fun fact, Pimba is the last site on the main SA power grid. All the others are on diesel generators.

The main argument I hear against switching to an EV is that they use electricity from a "dirty grid"; electricity generated primarily from burning fossil fuels. If TESLA equips all their chargers with LOADS of solar panels & batteries, so most/all of the power they provide is directly from clean solar, then that blows that anti-EV argument out of the water. And hopefully the electricity cost could be reduced for the drivers, to make even MORE people switch to clean EVs.

The charging location shown in Woomera in Australia is NOT a 220 volt wall outlet. It's an industrial type of power connection which carries 3 phase power at 415 volt - Jeff said its a 32 amp connection, so that makes it 23 kVa... about 10 times as much power delivery as our household type 240 volt power point socket... BIG difference

Actually, regarding the delivery bot, they do really great navigating in traffic (both pedestrian and vehicles). My son went to NAU and they’ve been using delivery bots for several years now. It rains and snows up there and I was amazed at how well they work in the rain and light snow. They have 4 wheels though, so not sure if that would play a factor.

Pam here….the PAIRED Power solar awning would be a great design for a DIY self install for home system. Still a bit overpriced in my mind…but would love you guys come up with a design as well. The rear of our home faces south and we would love to put up a Solar awning or pergola that would be dual purpose…electricity for our home and shade and great design esthetic for our patio/back yard gardens. This would be an exciting project!
