Live: US Secretary of State Antony Blinken speaks to the press in Israel I DW News

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken gives statements to the press with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Blinken arrived in Israel earlier on Thursday. He is expected to meet senior Israeli officials later today as the US strengthens its support for the country. Blinken was greeted at the airport in Tel Aviv by Israel's Foreign Minister Eli Cohen. He's also expected to hold talks tomorrow with the Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas.

Fundamental islam is the problem. Call it for what it is. Blinken says hamas does not represent Palestine, yet studies show more than 53% of them supports Hamas (58% in Gaza). This reminds one of the kind of denial/miscalculation America made in Afghanistan, spending trillions trying to sponsor democracy there, while 99% of Afghanis just wanted sharia rule.
