As a Japanese, a German friend tells me German people are always complaining about something. Through this channel, I have realized that is somehow true.

Over 20 years of spending vaca in Spain, every time I regret the decision to not moving there for good. The weather, the food and specially the people create the most fun and relaxing atmosphere! Can't say the same about Germany though, Greetings from Romania!

For all tourists out there, here are meal times in Spain:

- Breakfast: 7/8/9-12
- Lunch: 13-16
- Dinner: 20/21-23/00

Some places will offer a snack mid-morning called "almuerzo" and/or a snack mid-afternoon called "merienda". Other places will still be open in between lunch and dinner hours but the kitchen won't reopen until at least 20, so you'll have a few "tapas" available. If you're a tourist who's used to having dinner at 17 or 18, and you can't wait until dinner time in Spain, I guess if you order enough tapas you could call it a dinner 😂

I once had a German friend come over for a visit in Madrid. He literally said to me "I dont know why anyone would order such a small beer". It's gotten funnier over the years

Americans in Spain: This is Mexico, right?
Brits in Spain: Let's do what we know best, colonize the beaches!

I work as a recepcionist in the Canary Islands and Germans are actually one of the best nationalities to work with. Even when they're mad they keep their manners. The most annoying thing they do is trying to speak German like they're in Dresde when you tell them "Ich spreche ein bisschen Deutsch" and then act confused when you don't understand them. Bonus points when their problem is that the TV doesn't have sound or whatever but they still feel like they need to tell you their whole life story lol

United "can I speak with the manager" Kingdom has to be the worst.

My international friends are always surprised about two things:
- So many people out at night on a weekday. As you said, 22:30 and people are still in the terrazas, walking, etc. Even children.
- Children inside bars, especially if it is already quite late (festivities and weekends). I didn't realize that it is not common to have children in your bars at 23:00 until I lived outside of Spain. My whole childhood was playing in the nearby park of some bar with my friends while our parents were sitting in the terrace of a bar, or inside the bar. And pretty late on festivities and weekends!

In some countries, children are not allowed in bars at any time, and that was surprising for me.

I actually felt the "finally good weather" one myself physically once: when we went to Mallorca a few years back in September/October, the weather here in Germany was cold enough for my hands to get really dry and chapped again, as they usually do. After really just 1 or 2 days in this different climate with wonderful weather, my hands had completely healed and looked absolutely fine again!
Also, the Paella I ate there was absolutely amazing!

The average German couldn't sell their flat because they don't own it....

When we were in Spain we did a ‘tapas tour’
We went from bar to bar each time ordering different tapas
I think those small beers are kinda handy for that

Small beers, called "caña" or "botellin" if it's in a bottle (although the names can vary depending on the region), are the absolute best way to have a beer in (most parts of) Spain, and anyone asking for larger ones (they are available in most places) is making a mistake. This is because of two reasons, weather and tapas.

If you ask for a large beer, it will eventually get warm, and you'll only get one "tapa", however if you order a smaller one, and a new one when you finish it, they will both be cold and you'll get two tapas instead!

When I was sharing a flat with Spanish girls, it was such a shock to when they started cooking dinner at like 9:30 pm, while I was having mine at 5 😭

Perhaps our houses are "cheaper" than in Germany, but our wages are also not on a german level.

Indeed, most young folks already have given up to ever own their own house, specially in Madrid and Barcelona.

In places like Mallorca there is worker shortage, because even employed people can`t even aford a rent on the island

Churros without the hot chocolate? Never! Also, in the Basque Country they definitely still eat jamón for breakfast. You can walk into plenty of pintxo bars early in the morning and order pintxos with jamón.
