Nine people have died and 33 injured after suspected militants fired on a bus carrying Hindu pilgrims in the Indian federal territory of Jammu and Kashmir, police officials said.

Officials had initially said after the incident on Sunday that the death toll was 10, but revised the figure later.

They said that the driver lost control after the attack, causing the bus to plunge into a gorge in Reasi district of Jammu.
While rescue operations have concluded, a search operation by the Indian army and police is under way to track down the attackers.

Two days after the Reasi terror attack, terrorists launched another attack in the residential area in Kathua, J&K. A civilian was injured after terrorists barged into a residential house in the Hiranagar sector on June 11. Out of the two, one terrorist was neutralised in an encounter, and search operations to nab the other terrorist is underway. A follow-up search operation is underway after the terror attack in Kathua's Hiranagar sector last night. Drones are being used to carry out the search operation in the Hiranagar area. Jammu ADGP held Pakistan responsible for the attack
