Sonic The Hedgehog 3 Movie Review - Sonic 3 might have been a fun time but the theater experience was nothing short of miserable. Some of the most obnoxious people on planet Earth came out to ruin my night. Thankfully, Sonic and friends kept things light and entertaining. I can only hope others have a better time at the movies.

Tbh i just got done watching the movie and I've gotta say ehhhh like it's a good movie but I think I kinda preferred the second one more than this one.

Like I really wanted them to nail this movie but ehhh there was quite alot I didnt like tbh.


1. Shadow's backstory felt way too different and less impactful for me. Like Maria had no illness like she was supposed to. The whole point was Shadow was created in a lab on an Ark in spae by Gerald to try find a cure for Maria's terminal illness but no instead they decided Shadow was just found after coming to Earth on a meteor and that they always lived on Earth. The Ark doesn't exist until way later and that Maria was a normal child who was somewhat rebellious and befriend Shadow by pure chance. Also died to explosion not by gunshot.

2. Shadow still hated all humans and even the GUN commander even though he literally witnessed the commander try to stop the soldier from firing his weapon which then obviously caused the explosion. Like he clearly saw not all humans are evil.

3. Shadow blindly following Geralds orders and being extremely gullable despite even having moments where he was questioning if what he was doing is right is totally opposite to the games. Like in the games Gerald is dead and Shadow has way more goals, motivations and voicelines than he did in the movie. It's practically a different character almost.

4. Shadow turning good again randomly after having a casual chat with Sonic and sonic mentioning Maria so casually feels so off. Like Sonic knows nothing about Maria so why would or better yet how would he even mention to Shadow about what she really wants when never at any point did she ever mention to Shadow "how the people of Earth deserve a chance to live and be happy" like she did in the games as they completely changed that part of his backstory so the reason for him turning good doesn't even make sense. It just happens so randomly.

4. Sonic's personality in this movie was so obnoxious and annoying like he actually even came across as a massive jerk. He just felt so annoying, way too many forced bad puns and jokes for me and way too egotistical.

5. Knuckles has been dumbed down to unga bunga let me punch something. Like dude i get he isn't meant to be too intelligent but he ain't anywhere near as dumb as they've made him.

6. Gerald being alive was just crappy writing tbh and getting rid of the whole biolizard and the ark and instead having him be so goofy and wacky like Eggman is just irritates me tbh, like it was just weird.

7. The ark wasnt even a thing, it was just a singular room with a gin on the bottom. It felt lazy and lackluster.

8. The plot was too rushed and choppy, like there were alot of cuts that felt like we missed something or like some scenes should've been included in them. Like when they first leave to go off in a helicopter to Japan only for it to cut straight to Tokyo where they sonehow already knew they were looking for another "alien" or whatever. Like how did they know? Where's the scene of them even being informed?

9. The whole sideplot with the gun lady felt so forced and unnecessary. Honestly the whole movie could've been better without it.

Like don't get me wrong there were definitely some really cool parts to this movie and the animations were all great and so cool and well done but as a whole I'd actually only really give this movie a 6/10 tbh, maybe even a 5.

It jusy didn't hit as hard for ke as the second one which is a shame as Shadow is my favorite character in Sonic so I really wanted them to do well with this one.

LOL I support the rampage against people that ruin the movie theater experience. I quit going to the theater on weekends or night shows back in 2018. I go a lot less now and I've had no problems with late morning/early afternoon shows on a weekday. Sonic 3 looks fun but I'll wait and just buy it on physical media.

my audience wasn’t terrible, but so many people decided to bring their 3 and under kids to the movie, who all babbled the whole movie. and i saw it the day before the movie came out

It funny. I thought this movie was Okay, DOPE fucking Action. TOO many references to current day Media. My audience was actually pretty great. “Carrey” was the MVP for me obviously

Sonic CD is dope. The original release also played the soundtrack like an audio cd if you popped it in your walkman!
