for people interested: here is a more advanced explanation

it was created with the big bang. basically our universe was just a blob of (maybe) gamma rays. as the universe expanded, the electromagnetic waves expanded with the universe, to the point where the wavelength increased all the way to micro waves. wavelength is measured from the middle of each.. “arch”. if you know how sound waves are illustrated, the more spaced out the waves are, the lower the frequency.
if you look at the electromagnetic spectrum gamma rays have the lowest wave length. the wave length is caused by electrons bouncing out from the electron cloud, and then returning. the farther it travels the lower the wave length it emits.
