2024* Lexus UX / Attainable Luxury Hatchback!

Sometimes, wanting a nice car does not mean wanting a large one, or even a regular sized one. The Lexus UX is here to fill that often unanswered niche. Two questions remain, has it gone too far with its downsizing? And is it still nice enough to compete with the Volvo XC40, Mercedes GLA, BMW X1/X2 and others? Let’s find out.

Legendary reliability, it hugs my body so well I feel like I'm in a mech, very responsive breaks on a dime, the assisted driving does the majority of the work driving, I can take sharp turns while accelerating, very solid handling. I like the Japanese culture and tradition embedded in the design from the handles shaped like samurai swords to the aggressive menpo looking front. I love the tail fins. I like the LFA instrument cluster. I bought a 2024 UX 250h premium FWD I went from Toyotas all my life to VW to Audi back to Toyota and now Lexus, The materials are plenty nice for my liking, I like how they packed it with electronics and I have never had any problems with Toyota's electronics. The radar tech is in most Toyotas since 2017, I never had to service it and used the lane departure assistance and adaptive cruise control on my Corolla for 7 years. I have never had any issues with any Toyotas properly maintained new or used. Audi was fun but I knew to get their S-line models to get their fancy tech but with it came a lot of maintenance, Germans over engineer in a good way, I like the Japanese philosophies tried and reliable.

This car is great as a daily driver, it's tight and agile perfect for city driving, I let the car drive me around on a daily basis, it's semi-driverless and I can just take control instantly, it really feels like and extension of me.

I saw one of these parked next to a yaris the other day and was surprised they're basically the same height. So in my mind this is just that, a bigger yaris. Really interesting size and (realistically) useful for most people while being comfortable.

I’ve owned cars with “augmented” engine noise before….VW, MINI. It was generally inoffensive and I didn’t mind it. But the fake noise generated by this Lexus seems absolutely ridiculous. It doesn’t even match what the powertrain is actually doing. Did they just grab random samples from GTA to pipe in?! Absurd!

What you get when you turn a toyota chr into a luxury car. At least they did a much better job hiding the bargain bin platform and handling compared to the hs250h.

When I was shopping, I found there is a cheaper alternative with better safety technology - the Toyota Corolla Cross hybrid in XSE version. It may not have as much noise insulation and leather, as the UX, but when fully equipped it offers better value than the Lexus

Too attainable, and not enough power. Always has needed a 2.0T option that would make someone want to own one. The current powertrain does not compete favorably against Toyota's own Corolla Cross Hybrid powertrain.
