The hub and spoke model isn't dead, it's just not the only game in town anymore. If you have a high demand city pair at a long range the A380 makes money. As proven by Emirates. One A380 is cheaper to operate than two planes, and passengers prefer that plane over the others anyway.

Saying that many airlines are moving away from the a380 is reporting on extremely old news....the fact is that airlines ditching the type have done so between 2019 and 2021/22....since COVID travel restrictions started easing, any airline still owning a380 found itself not only reviving it but relying on it for many high density flights to/from major, particularly heavily congested, hubs...

So much so that Airbus had completely binned any plans for a neo version or a new superjumbo plane, but it has now returned with a far more ambiguous "we never say never"....

I think Emirates doesn't want to retire all of the AIRBUS A380 because, AIRBUS A380 it's still genius until now.

Airbus is making a new variant of a380 called 0e which removes ALL emissions. It uses liquid nitrogen.

its unbelievable how Emirates wants to keep 69 a380s running until at least 2030 considering that they just ordered a bunch of modern fuel efficient a350s at the last Dubai Airshow.
