1. Mine more coal, could always use it anyways and makes X-ray more believable
2. Don’t look at weird things in the distance
3. Mine around diamonds, makes it look like you don’t know how many there are
4. Don’t make weird turns, try to make it seem like a normal strip mine
I summed up how to X-ray properly in like 4 main rules of thumb

5 rules of X-ray
1. Always mine the full vein you go for.
2. Pass by some of the diamonds to make it seem like you dont know how many there are .
3. Dont look at random shit in the distance.
4. Torches give you an excuse to mine coal, not using torches also gives away you using xray.
5. Using an iron pickaxe and torches give you an excuse to mine iron and coal, dont go for diamonds past a vein you already passed by 2 seconds ago. (This video is guilty, passed by coal on the right and immediately went for it on the left)

One thing I’ve learned from my years of passing and failing test for certain hacks is for X-ray to never go for the closest diamonds or to always just dig a tunnel no matter what

Little tip, if you find diamonds next to an ore, also mine any vein of that same ore you find until you reach that one

If possible, use an x-ray mod which doesn't make everything see through, but instead highlights the nearby ores. This will allow you to not get distracted by other things and will highlight what you're looking for.

If you're playing on java, you can use the xray mods that highlight ores through walls instead of the resource packs that just make everything else hidden. This way, you can make your xraying less suspicious as the mod usually takes time to detect newly placed ores and they wouldnt be able to bother you with things you can see through walls, as the only thing you would know is the location of the ores.
