For people saying the men who claime to want a manic pixy dream girl, but call any real girl thats even remotely like this "cringe" and "annoying", there is something that your not considering.

They do want the manic pixy dream girl, but they don't want her to be her own person. The girl has to be quirky, but obsessed with them. They have to stop everything they're doing to fawn over him, she never has her own emotional troubles(she's not like other girls)so he doesn't have to deal with her "womanly emotions, and she's super hot but isn't like the other hot girls(she's not a whore).

They like the idea, but the girl they want is. She isn't a girl, she's their idealized concept of a girl.

I mean, I actually have the “Manic dream Pixie girl” as a protagonist where she’s a superhero who is getting by intergalactic villains, and her love interest is a ex-villain who was sheltered from human civilisation due to being used as a tool for the main antagonist. At a glance, it seems like a typical “Maniac girl x boring guy” till you realise the “boring” guy is a bigger weirdo then even her who is way more normal in comparison to him. So it’s sort of subverting/inverting I think
