Thanks for the info and help. My friend was born in 1968. He was diagnosed with Duchenne right away. He was unable to walk since he was 8 years old. They told him he would die at 18. When he was a teenager, he had to switch from a manual wheelchair to a power wheelchair. He lost the use of his arms in his early twenties. He had to go on a ventilator permanently, starting on his 24th birthday. He will soon be turning 52 years old now. Years ago, we wanted to see if Guinness Book of World Records could recognize him as the longest surviving person with Duchenne. They wanted a re-diagnosis. The doctor said "you have Becker's Disease. People with Becker's live til their sixties." He insisted that life expectancy was the ONLY difference between the 2 diseases. Now, watching this video, I'm starting to wonder if that doctor was wrong. Maybe my 52 year-old friend DOES have Duchenne. [Edit: He died yesterday, May 28th, 2022, of heart failure. Rest in peace.]

Other than the difference between both Duchenne and Becker's I also learnt "get your head out of your gluteal region". 😂

There is research proving more and more that the brain can be affected in Becker Muscular Dystrophy as well. My two son's neurologist recommended neurological testing due to this. And both my son's with Becker have learning disabilities. And most other parents I've spoke to in a Becker support group with son's with Becker also have some of the same learning disabilities. Also our muscular dystrophy team did include a pulmonologist who checks the lungs.

What do you mean by tanucated? Does this mean people like me with beckers still always have dystrophin that is functional so how can it be degenerative?
