1 Minute Woodwinds | Hall Crystal Flute

Hi My name is Ashley. Welcome to my channel! This is the first of a new series where I highlight the range/abilities of each instrument in approximately 1 minute.

3 things I want to mention about these flutes:
.
1. I play the melody twice though, first on a larger flute in D, and second on a smaller flute in A. You can hear how pitches in the same register, sound different depending on the size of the flute.
.
2. Yes they DO have a third register, but I would say the first two registers are really my favorite in regards to intonation and fingerings.
.
3. The flutes are fully chromatic, BUT you have to use a combination of half holes and cross fingerings to achieve some of the notes. For some of these chromatic tones, intonation can be a bit of a challenge to get exact.
.
I hope that some of you found this informative and helpful. Please let me know your thoughts and suggestions in the comments below!

awesome video! I'm so happy I have found your channel!! I was acctually very curious about the crystal flute, I'm now even more interested in buying it, I think the fingerings will be same as on my traverso

Very nice sound and playing! I have a quick question! Is it able to play the flatted 7th well? It looks like there's no thumb hole on these flutes, and I'm wondering if the tuning is ok for the fingering of the 7th note flattened. Please let me know!
