Why Did LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Fail? (2013-2015)

Показать описание
LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) was a new LEGO themes released at the beginning of 2013 with an initial wave of 6 sets. However, the theme was abruptly cancelled by the end of 2014, with only a total of 14 sets made. These sets are highly-regarded in the LEGO community, due to their unique builds, and complex minifigure designs, featuring newly moulded elements and prints. So this begs the question, why did LEGO TMNT fail? Well in this video I seek to answer that question, looking at the theme wholistically, analysing everything it had to offer!

Michael Bay did not direct TMNT 2014, he produced it. The director of TMNT 2014 is Jonathan Liebesman.

I really wish they can come back to be based off the original cartoon and the original live action movies.

It is scary that you posted this today, because yesterday I had just remembered that this theme existed 😮

Really wish it succeeded would've been cool to get Minifigures for every series

I remember as a kid that there was basically a year wait between wave 1 and 2, and I remember that being a big problem for me, as I wanted more, but Lego just wasn’t making any.

Also, I feel like there wasn’t enough character variety. I remember that I specifically wanted them to make Rahzar and Mutagen Man, but they just kept making more Shredders and Foot Soldiers. Half of the new characters in the second wave just were not very desirable (Spyder-Bytez was only in one episode, and Kirby Bat wasn’t in very many either), and the movie sets only had one new character, which was Vern (not very desirable). Yes, there were new versions of the older characters, but back then, I really just wanted to get a variety of different characters and not the same ones with different designs.

A few things:
"Failed reboot attempts" is not a thing. Every TMNT series is a new Turtle universe.
87 was a big hit.
The original movies were a hit.
2003 series was a hit.
That was before these sets.
It's kinda like Super Hero comics where they reboot in a slightly different universe every now and then except each new series is its own thing basically. That's TMNT.

The 2014 TMNT movie was NOT directed by Michael Bay, it was directed by Jonathan Liebesman.
Michael Bay only produced the movie.
And the 2nd live action film was directed by Dave green.

I only wish that Bebop and Rocksteady had gotten minifigures.

1:07 “Many failed attempts”? 87-success. The movies-success. 2003-success. Please do your research.

I own the figures from this line and it makes me sad how LEGO hasn’t made anymore Ninja Turtles sets

I'm sorry ¿WHAT?
There were literally only 2 TMNT cartoons before this show & BOTH OF THEM ended up having more episodes & a longer time on air than this one(the 2003 even had 3 spin off shows, the Web 4Kids Shorts, FF & BTTS, & a movie, Turtles forever)

You forgot to mention the fact that Lego TMNT literally has returned in LEGO Fortnite. So it's not out of the question for this theme to come back.

The 2003 tmnt show is still one of the best animated shows ever. Got a good chunk of these sets would love to complete the collection one day

I had literally no idea that there even were LEGO sets based on the 2014 movie. 😮

Not hating but you say things like 'only $25' without saying how much it would be with inflation and I sometimes can't tell if it was worth it

TMNT will always have a special place in my heart and mind not only as a loyal fan to series because most of raised with the series but also as a Lego fan because “The shellraiser street chase “was my first Lego set that I bought, and still I have it and play with it a lot, I freaking love TMNT not only the show( I mean all series) but also the sets

I have the turtle sub set. the cool thing about the guys face prints was that there were Ozygen tanks included as a print.. honestly kinda cool detail instead of just thoring in the normal fig.

I have a few of them the Turtle sub is my favorite, since it has good interior space, and was one of the more efficient ways of assembling the brothers. They kind of made acquiring the four brothers more costly than it had to be.
