From what Statguides showed, the sturgian heavy spearmen and axemen both outperform the legionary when in a straight forward fight against big clumps of varied units. Also the axemen has 2 sets of trowhing axes which weren't even used in that test. Amazing infantry

I love legionaries for their effectiveness and the ease of upgrading them I always struggle to upgrade and recruit noble units but my legions always stand strong against the unrelenting force of my enemies

Sturgian druzhnik champion casually left out of #1

-Battanian fian champion
-Sturgian heavy axeman
-Empire elite cataphracts or sturgian druzihinnik champion
-Khuzait Kahn guard

Any combination of 2-3 of these will beat any army you come across when outnumbered +4-1

Veteran line breakers may die easier but boy once you got them in they get the most kills

Aseri and Empire troops are the backbone of my army besides the khuzait and Sturgian troops in the front.

When you want to save money, you can also build a very effective army with sea raiders and forest bandits.

I've got a party consisting mostly of legionnaires and fian champions at the moment. My 153 men managed to kill some 400 Khuzaits in a desperate last stand. Pretty impressive as far as Bannerlord goes.

Using the Sturgian Heavy Spearman in an offensive manoeuver is heresy.
Train a good infantry captain and keep those boys in a shieldwall while holding a position. Those dudes. won't. die.

Then you take advantage of them holding aggro to kill off the ennemy with either shock troops, archers, skirmishers or a mix of each.

I can win a 1:10 battle with less than 5% loss against fully upgraded armies. This is the best way I found to use infantry.
