O Pato - Bossa Nova Guitar Lesson #22: Advanced Phrase 7xxx
Показать описание
This is based mainly on the first recording by João Gilberto from album O Amor, o Sorriso e a Flor with some chords and rhythmic phrases borrowed from live version João recorded in Carnegie Hall concert and released on Getz/Gilberto 2.
The lesson shows the usage of advanced bossa nova phrases that contain patterns with all 16th notes (rhythmic pattern 7). Those are typically placed in the beginning of a rhythmic phrase and in this lesson there are two variations: 7443 and 7313.
Few things to note about guitar accompaniment:
1. To recreate the sound of João Gilberto's guitar from 1960 this song should be played mainly with mezzo-staccato. For a guitarist that means to sustain the notes for as long as possible, but still mute them just before the chord change. Depending on the fingering this can be performed either by lifting the left hand fingers off the fretboard or by touching the strings with the right hand.
2. Pattern 7 is played with a dynamic accent on the beats 1 and 4. This is slightly exaggerated in the lesson intro, while in the song the accent is moderate.
Enjoy playing O Pato!
