When Liberals Shun Catholics w/ Trent Horn

A supporter asks Trent for his perspective on a falling out he had with his brother over a faith related issue. Often people who disagree with Catholics will reject them because of political differences; such as disagreements about "a women's right to choose." As Catholics we should always seek to build bridges and be willing to patiently and charitably explain our beliefs.

I've experienced this personally. I lost a very close friend over the issue of homosexuality. I pray for him daily and still have brotherly love for him in my heart. God bless everyone who has lost someone.

Most of my family and many of my friends are liberal in their political beliefs but they accept me practicing my faith. It's really not that hard to do. Just love one another. If someone decides they can't be your friend or can't consider you part of the family keep the light on. That's what God did for me and I found my way home after a long time away.

Christ said there would be those who would hate us because of Him. And he also told us to rejoice when it happens. Of course it hurts, but compromising our faith to gain this world hurts a lot more in the long run. Keep the faith, control what is in your power, and trust in God. A simple but powerful formula.

As a Catholic I pray that I'm not obliged to pass judgment on people and life styles that don't come in line with my faith. I personally don't care about the choices people make. I struggle enough with my own. There are exceptions. Extinguishing babies hurts my heart. The caveat: before I returned to my faith I was guilty of living a life totally at odds with the tenets of Catholicism. The church welcomed be back. I'd like to extend that generosity.

Need to stop this bill The Respect for Marriage Act, abbreviated as RFMA (H.R. 8404, S. 4556), is a proposed bill in the United States Congress to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act. Will change everything about how we can have marriages and churches in our country as Catholics we need to figure out how to fight against this. Please look into this it’s going to be voted on sometime in the next week or so.
