It’s funny how bats are associated with sometimes scary or spooky things and the number left was 13 before they despawned

Bats are back! As of October 1st, 2023, a naturally spawning bat can be found in (399, 53, 7821) in 2b2t overworld. (I took several screenshots as proof) And according to 2b2t subreddit, bats aren't as rare as this video says.

By the way, bats are not the only mob that doesn’t spawn anymore. Some other mobs, the most notable being the ocelot, also no longer spawn.
