Famously (and very heartwarmingly), it was actually Hillary who submitted first. He and Tenzing Norgay then made a pact that they would not reveal who climbed first. There was pressure on Tenzing to declare he had climbed it first (like in the joke in the video, I guess?), and perhaps because of that, it was he who revealed Hillary had taken the first step in his autobiography.

Hillary, of course, returned to Nepal and has done impeccable work for Sherpas and Nepal in general through the Himalayan Trust.

Tenzing and Hillary remained close friends till their deaths.

Little correction. The only group/people who's opinion on who climbed everest first should be considered who say Norgay got to the top first is the Nepalese government. Norgay always said Hillary got to the top first and Hillary always insisted they got to the top together.
