The Men's Javelin Throw event at the British Grand Prix got underway at 19:22 (local time) on July 13, 2021, at Gateshead International Stadium in Gateshead, Great Britain, just 10 days before the Official Opening of the Tokyo Olympic Games, so, for Tokyo-Bound athletes, the British Grand Prix was the last International Competition prior to the Games.

At the time of the event, the list of athletes competing at the Tokyo Olympics had already been determined. The Olympics Qualifying Period had ended on June 29, 2021. The Olympic Qualifying Standard for the Men's Javelin Throw was 85 m.

The Tokyo-Bound Athletes in competition at the British Grand Prix in the Men’s Javelin Throw were the following:

Gatis Čakšs (Latvia), 2014 World U17 Champion.

Former Mississippi State University Bulldog Anderson Peters (Grenada), he's had a Highly Decorated Career, since, the time he was 15 years old. He is the Reigning World Champion in the Men's Javelin Throw.

Jakub Vadlejch (Czech Republic), Silver Medalist 2017 World Championships.

Keshorn Walcott (Trinidad & Tobago), he's had a Highly Decorated Career, since, the time he was 16 years old. He was the Olympic Champion in the 2012 London Olympic Games, he was 19 years old at the time, and was the first Non-European Olympic Champion in the event.

Julian Weber (Germany), 2013 European U20 Champion.

Johannes Vetter (Germany), 2017 World Champion, and he is the current German National Record Holder in the Men's Javelin Throw, 97.76m (2020).

The remaining two athletes would not take part in the Tokyo Olympics but their World Ranking in the Men’s Javelin Throw from World Athletics on July 13, 2021, was the following:

Leandro Ramos (Portugal), Silver Medalist 2021 European U23 Championships, 2020 and 2021 Portuguese National Champion, was Ranked Number 44 by World Athletics.

Patriks Gailums (Latvia), Bronze Medalist 2019 European U23 Championships. Was Ranked Number 54 by World Athletics.

In the Diamond League Javelin Throw format, athletes compete in 5 rounds to qualify for the Final Three. Their best mark from the previous 5 Rounds is not counted for Position on the Final Leader Board.

Final Three Qualifying

1. Walcott Keshorn (Trinidad & Tobago) had qualified as 1st Placed with a throw of 82.81 meters on his third throw (Round 3).

2. Johannes Vetter (Germany) had qualified as 2nd Placed with a throw of 82.13 meters on his second throw (Round 2).

3. Julian Weber (Germany) had qualified as 3rd Placed with a throw of 81.07 meters on his fourth throw (Round 4).

1. Johannes Vetter (Germany), 85.25 m
2. Julian Weber (Germany), 77.16 m
3. Walcott Keshorn (Trinidad & Tobago), 76.74 m

Based on the Position Results of the Final 3, the Leader Board is listed accordingly in order of position, using the best mark of the athlete on the Leader Board.

For the 2017 World Champion Johannes Vetter (Germany) his winning mark of 85.25 meters at the 2021 British Grand Prix represented a decrease in distance of 12.80% with respect to his Personal Best of 97.76 meters (National Record, 2020).
