MCU Phase 5 Can Introduce 10 Villains Stronger Than Thanos

We’re right in the middle of Phase 4 of the MCU right now and we’re just starting to dive into all the multiverse shenanigans that will probably dominate the franchise for the next few years. And yes while the multiverse is a huge deal and we’re just starting to get into Kang-mania, I can’t help but look forward to what comes after Phase 4. We live in an era of speculation and relentless theories about what the future holds that it sometimes takes away from what’s happening right now, but it’s still fun to talk about! Which is why this video is all about the next big bad who will rock the MCU to its very core in Phase 5.

So if we think Kang will be the main villain of Phase 4 right now, then the question becomes what does the phase after hold? That’s what this list will discuss today! And yes, I’m leaving off some big villains like Galactus and Doctor Doom who will most likely show up in Phase 4 at some point. If I was a betting man, I’d put money on a big X-Men villain being the big bad of Phase 5. It would provide the perfect bridge to unite the Avengers and the X-Men, but just what would that look like? Could we get a redo of the villain Apocalypse? I could see that making sense. Apocalypse does have close ties to Kang the Conqueror so maybe that would be a natural bridge. Or would another X-Men villain like Onslaught make sense? And if we set aside X-Men villains, could other long-awaited villains show up? Like Mephisto or Morlun? There’s a lot of options!

So join me today as I break down all these different villain options and what Phase 5 will look like! After you’re done, be sure to hit that big like and subscribe button for more awesome MCU content like this. And leave a comment to or else we’ll never see Galactus in the MCU! Don’t want that right? Better not risk it! Thanks for watching CBR! Let’s get started.

Agreed that Doom needs to be slowly introduced, and properly developed. His character has depth, true depth, and needs to be treated as such. Same with Apocalypse.

I really want a properly done Dr. Doom in the MCU. I wonder if they will be making him an antithesis of Iron Man/Dr. Strange. Raised in humble beginnings, baptized by war and poverty, and once he sees the opportunity through sorcery, he decides to unite the world under his image while building a suit of armour around himself.

The next big villain doesn't necessary have to be stronger than thanos they just have to be good enough to keep the audience interested.

I would love to see the Fear Itself storyline being adapted into the MCU. It could be like Captain America: Civil War where while it WOULD be a Thor movie we would still se the MCU’s other heroes. I also think it could delve into Thor’s thoughts of his father’s skeletons in his closet. It would also be a cool way to see multiple villains together like Titania.

Honestly i could see the MCU introduce any of these huge villains and storylines at this point just because of how wild the MCU feels at the moment. I'd personally love to see Annihulus and the annihilation wave storyline. If they do this it would also make sense to introduce galactus since he's a part of the annihilation wave storyline in the comics

Tbh, I'm really worried for the future of the mcu. The infinity saga had the advantage of being grounded to some extent and, though some movies fell flat, almost all of the movies felt engaging, relatable and very interconnected. Every movie contributed to the larger story and it all paid off in Endgame. However, the concept of the multiverse is very hard to explain. It will definitely create plotholes and that may cause inconsistencies to the story. But in Kevin Feige we trust

Bad guys working together is always fun to watch, your right. I'd like to see more villains teaming up.

Mephisto and Dr. Doom are the most interesting and relatable. What would be even more interesting is to have both working together, but behind the scenes, both trying to take advantage of one another. The combination of backstory, lore, spirtualism, technology, and mysticism would be the ultimate storyline.

I want a Dr. Doom that lasts for a long time in the mcu not just 1 movie

I think doom should be a “hero” that keeps saving the day and lead everyone to love him only to find he is out for himself. Then after all of this multiverse/celestial threats ends, it can play a story where the Beyonder shows up at the end of this multiverse stuff and doom and “friends” find a way to beat him and go into the Secret Wars 2015 leading to god emperor Doom with the power of the beyonders

The Thanos you talked about is basically Ultimate Ultron. I think that's more likely than another Thanos

I think i like the Secret wars being adapted for a whole phase idea. And the trilogy is awesome as well. I think all these ideas could be done if everything was set up right. Since Multiverse Of Madness is already on its way, this can actually be a way to start a secret wars event. Having a trilogy with solo movies of each charecter for the event like the comics. Having spin offs movies which connects to the main trilogy.

My ideas for a phase 5 villain basically come from the fact that an overarching villain needs either subordinates or a manipulative scheme.
(In my opinion, a lone villain works better for single movies, a trilogy if you stretch it.)
So, I agree with several villains mentioned in the video:
* The Beyonder, pitching heroes versus villains, or heroes from different universes.
* The Phoenix Force, triggering AvX.
* Mephisto also works pretty well. He has ties with characters from multiple teams so he can tie a whole "phase" together.
* My favorite pick, the only one not mentioned in the video: the Magus and/or the Goddess, though they need Adam Warlock to be introduced first. And they have both been defeated through clever schemes and not simply overpowering them, despite having basically some of the broadest alliance of heroes against them.
* My exception to my own rule above would be The Void. He could be teased by several events that he triggered from behind the scenes (e.g. Hulk's rampage) before being actually revealed, but he's essentially a lone villain type.

Apocalypse can work, but I don't see him as a cosmic-level villain like Thanos. He's been typically taken down by the X-men alone.
Onslaught also works pretty well, but there's a lot of X-men backstory to bring into the MCU first. More than would be needed for a Phoenix Force / AvX arc.

Considering it just went from the Scarlet Witch to Gorr the God Butcher I would say they are definitely going heavy on the big bads.

It's not about power, it's about having a plan. And Thanos had a damn good one. I'd say very few can match his intellect, while also being on par with his strength. Doom for sure being one of them.

Dr. Doom needs his own movie so does Silver Surfer and they need to do them justice

If they were to make a series for secret wars, including all heroes, it would need at least $50 million dollars per episode as Budget.

By that rate they’re probably better off doing a trilogy.

I would LOVE to see Apocalypse as a main villain. He's always been one of my favourites, and the X-men film was just so awful. Cool video; I really dig most of these ideas

I would love to see Doom become the final villain of the MCU. Let’s do Kang vs Young Avengers, and then for Avengers 5, 6, 7 be focused upon or called “Secret Wars”, “Battleworld, ” and “Doom” respectively. All leading to a final battle with God Doom in order to set the multiverse back to the way it needs to be.

I want Sinister already. He’s been teased so much.
