I feel like now that we know what happened to him as a kid... it definitely makes you wonder if this song was his way of letting go of what happened, moving on, and looking forward. Maybe that's why he still enjoys playing this song and why it still packs a punch. It's probably also why he is so bothered by the realize vs realign confusion. He already knew... so realize makes no sense in this story.
