How to pay Zakat?
2.5% of your annual savings should be given to charity.

So, Where can your Zakat go?
1. The poor (al-fuqarâ’), meaning low-income or indigent.

2. The needy (al-masâkîn), meaning someone who is in difficulty.

3. Zakat administrators.

4. Those whose hearts are to be reconciled, meaning new Muslims and friends of the Muslim community.

5. Those in bondage (slaves and captives.

6. The debt-ridden.

7. In the cause of God.

8. The wayfarer, meaning those who are stranded or traveling with few resources.

Do the poor pay zakat? Who determines that you are rich or poor? Paying off 2.5 from your total wealth? Your retirement savings? 2.5% becomes much than a sandwich. I am sure what transpires is that there are those who take the zakah and don't pass it equitably. Favoritism may be applied to your "poor" uncle or something like that. Interesting concept. Tithe is what you take in, zakat is giving what you have.

But its based on your yearly savings? What if I save somethin a month then next month I dont have?

Brothers, I have a question. Lets say I need to save some money in order to start a business.
For example I save 5, 000 every year.
In the first year I have to pay 2.5 (125) from saved amount.
Next year, I save another 5, 000.


How much do I have to pay? 125 for the last year or for the total amount, which is going to be on this second year of savings, 10, 000?

I know we mostly use gold or silver to pay zakat but Can we use British pounds to give zakat ?

I have a question, how do you know that we have to pay 2.5% for zakat and not anymore or less?
