Not all is negative about the Coronavirus led - lockdown, certainly not
for India's largest IT service firm (TCS). The crisis has provided
an opportunity for the company to discard its 20-year-old operating model
and leapfrog into a new mode of work with an outlook for most of its
employees working remotely. TCS will ask 75 percent or 4.5 lakh of global its workforce (including 3.5 lakh in India) to work from home permanently by 2025. The management believes they don't need more than 25% of the workforce at the office premises in order to be 100% productive.

Moneycontrol's Sakshi Batra does a 3 point analysis to understand what's the vision the company has and how can it benefit the IT industry

here it ends the traffic jams in Bengaluru. And the fact that small town employees don’t have to come to big cities for work. They can work from small cities and only come to office once a week or even once month? This will also reduces transportation costs, living costs (rent) and many things can change because of

How I see this!!!
- Female associates are now safer than ever before, be it commute or work place
- Cleaner Environment.. We need it for our own children.. We need to protect.. No matter how much we earn.. We can't let them carry oxygen cylinder in their back..
- Possibility of better work life balance
- Huge opportunity to learn new skills by saving commute time in hectic traffic
- Reduced maintenance/fuel for vehicles

Infosys is working on such model already. My team works from different locations and I actually haven't personally met any team members yet since my last 2 years of service. Trust me this model works. There are no problems with delivery.

WFH will help reduce vehicular traffic and pollution significantly... In cities like Bengaluru, Pune, Hyederabad Delhi... Mumbai.. It will reduce air pollution, stress on women workforce especially who also have domestic responsibilities including keeping their children in creche or anywhere else. Covid has certainly given us stern life lessons. Bravo TCS

If this is adopted across the IT sector, it will result in drastic disruption in real estate

Those who are afraid to adopt this new model please trust me it works really well. I am already working under such model from past more that 5 years with foreign companies and I don't find any difficulties in that. Yes I agree that to adopt any new thing takes time and initially it may looks ugly but think for a long term and definitely this model has lots of advantages.

Most of the buildings are owned by big IT company's. If the start working from home the policy of SEZ & STPI & tax holidays may have issues.

Govt has to come up with updated regulations to avoid statutory issues.

My feelings India not ready for work from home model. I am struggling a lot in conference calls with fan sound, bird & other disturbances. No paying customer will accept this notice.

In developed countries they use to have home office with all facilities mostly sound proof & wont even allow kids, in India it is not possible. We have crow, birds, vegetables vendor, public announcement & others.

LOOKES LIKE MARKET STATEMENT TO KEEP INVESTORS HAPPY.

In six months TCS will say productivity reduced & hence we go for work from office model.

Management people don't have a time to think about innovation, automation, AI, now they are planning to drop all real estate cost by the way of WFH option, Corona played a vital role in reducing infrastructure cost., ,

Very Important : Pls Read ..
Why are company managements ( not TCS ) getting mad to call employees to return to their offices when WFH is still so successful, efficient and profitable since last 11 months here in India. It is rather beneficial as the cities have overcrowded roads and long traffic jams everyday due to congestion. Why to create a mess and use huge company funds for office cabs, Office Air conditioning and a huge infrastructure and it's maintenance which is not required.. 🤔 and when Employees are preferring WFH.
Why the higher management is only pitching and creating an atmosphere to get the employees return to office to work . Where has Employee satisfaction gone. May be the management is securing their own survival. Don't forget the rising prices of oil .
