I am a retired bricklayer, and this method results in a weakened corner. Bricks are meant to be fully interlocked for the best strength. I have seen many corners played in this fashion result in failure. Also I would be adding ties every second course for added strength

Just cut the brick to fit the angle 26 years as a Mason I have never seen this however I do like it as a different way of doing it nice work

Thanks Rodie for another great vid. I love how you make your viewers top priority. Most channels show "Look what I can do". You seem to take the "Look what YOU can do" approach. I've did this one time and had to cut mitered face slabs for the pigeon holes per the customers request. Didn't want to spend the money for specialties and wasn't having the pigeon holes. He damn sure didn't like the extra I added to the price for the pain in the ass cuts 🤣🤣🤣. Thanks again for everything you do.

Cheers Rodian, been trying to find a method for a 45 return on a low garden block wall. It will be rendered and have a slate coping. Seems the best way. Cheers

👌🏼done a few walls like this but try to avoid it . On the connys we used to mitre the corners and have a straight joint and load it with tie wires, then we progressed to squints 👌🏼🧱👍🏼

So glad I found your channel today! I’m attempting to build my own shed and I’ve learned a lot from you today, thank you. Also trying to figure out how to do angled corners as I’ve one side 4 meter long and the other side 2.5 meter long and they will be joined by 7 meter wide front and back. The front will be square but the back wall will be angled. So confusing!

Hi… great channel for us novices to see how it’s done. Many thanks… have you a tutorial on stone gate pillars with weight bearing steel joist in centre?

Question.. does this technique work with UK concrete block wall when doing a 45 degree angle corner?

I’m not a bricky but am learning so much from you. A question tho. Could you grind the angles into the bricks so you can butt them up together but with the 10mm perp joint ? Because as you say it doesn’t look that good but also going off you mentioning that when building you need to ensure half bond in most ways to lay bricks, this way doesn’t look very strong🧐🥴 sorry if this is a pointless question

When we do a corner like that we would put a small piece that you let empty. Every mason has his own style. It’s not right or wrong as long as it works.

Great YouTube chanel. Best thing for taking myond off the Coronavirus. Any chance you could do a wall repair video on how to cut out a couple of damaged bricks in the middle of a wall, then replace them without dropping lots of mortar down the cavity (assume it's a house wall with cavity)
