Flex Trim Router - The Best On The Market?

Episode #787 Today, we're doing a review we've been waiting quite a while for. The FLEX 24 volt trim router! Seeing as how we use routers on a daily basis, this is right in our wheelhouse. I gotta say, this is the best router I've ever laid my hands on!!

I saw this at my local Lowes the other day. Nice router but I am very deeply immersed in my Milwaukee platform so I will be staying with it for quite some time. Besides between my 5 dwp611s and my 5 Mikwaukees I am definitely set for a bit.

Always good to know, but only having 1 hand to hold the Makita is my choice only because it’s slimmer an lighter, great video tho Ryan keep them coming like I said it’s all I get up for an to do ❤❤

Wow, I'm super impressed! They seem to have thought of everything. I really like the shaft lock feature. BTW, unless I misunderstood what you were saying, there is another brand with lifetime warranty on tools, parts and batteries if you register them and that is Rigid. They just require you to register within 90 days.

I’m very invested in the FLEX platform and this router will be added at some point but I’ll still use my Bosch routers.

One of my DeWalts came with that centering jig as well, I got 3 DeWalts and another comein, and love them, it has to be a super gold plated router to get me away from DeWalt man lol...this looks like a decent router though... appreciate the info on this...

Nice review! It has some great features. I'm in the Makita platform so I won't be switching but if someone hasn't gotten immersed in an ecosystem, Flex is certainly worth checking out!

Have you ever tried adding a thin layer of teflon foil underneath your plate? I did that on both of my Dewalt cordless routers, just a 0, 5mm layer, and that works like a charme. I always had little moving issues when routing cavities in guitars with templates, but with the teflon layer I just can move the working router with ease. Remember good gaming mice got teflon feet, ;-)

I bought 2 Flex saws. I really want this Flex router, it's my dream router, but I feel like the price is kind of difficult. ($350 for the kit with battery). Considering the simplicity of a router, compared to a circular saw or drill with their gear boxes and mechanisms, it doesn't make sense why the router cost more than their other tools? I might end up buying it after watching this review though! Thank you!

I’m not sure about that power button, wouldn’t your finger get tired just pushing on that the whole time? if you’re holding your base plate how can you hold the power button. So many questions lol. Great video

Which cordless router would you recommend overall? Flex, DeWalt, Milwaukee, Makita, Metabo?
What are you thoughts thoughts on the leaking Flex batteries?

Have you checked to see if the 1/2 inch Dewalt collet would fit on the Flex, or the Skill 1/2 collet if you have one?
