This is the most interesting of the 3 new rods, but with that length I think it would be a lot nicer if the action went deeper into the rod when loaded. A rod that long should bend farther in than the first 5-7 inches so you can keep fish pinned on the way up. From my experience with extra fast ice rods, if your drag is set right, you have to constantly reel to keep the fish pinned, and with the smaller spinning reels most people use it leads to line twists and a bad time. Inline reels work well with these extra fast rods, but I don’t know a lot of people who’ve switched over to them yet. I really think that longer ice rods are the way of the future, even in shacks and pop-ups, but the pros of this specific rod can be matched or exceeded by putting a spring bobber on a lot of other rods. If you could build the blank so that after the tip section is loaded, the rest of the rod would slowly load up with a parabolic bend you’d have a real winner on your hands
