PowerOak EB150 1500Wh Portable Power Station Review | A Mighty Powerful Companion

In this video we do an initial review and test of the PowerOak EB150 Portable Power Station (MAXOAK Bluetti in the US). At the heart of this power station lies high quality, automotive grade, LG battery cells which can store up to 1500Wh of power. Combined with a 1000W (1200W peak) AC inverter, this modest looking device can even power some high drain domestic appliances. This powerful box packs a great punch when it comes to emergency backup power and situations when you are off-grid like camping or touring. Whether you charge the power station direct from solar or from the mains, it’s reassuring to know there’s reliable power when you need it most. This is definitely a mighty powerful companion!

This is a really good video, thorough and comprehensive and without theatrics. I am really impressed with this power bank, especially the 12volt regulated power output. This means that you could easily power a 12v 55/60litre chest compressor fridge/freezer in a campervan continously and have power left over for other uses. I think this unit will be popular as an alternative to a traditional power setup with the necessity of buying and installing all the other components and wiring them up. This unit has all these in one compact unit. Plug and play away you go!. I think this unit has set a new standard in power banks and no doubt the competition will be upping their game and there will be many similar units available within the next 12 months. This is good news for self build camper vanners who can now dispense with heavy AGM batteries and the nightmare of connecting up everything and the space needed to fit the components in the van where space is always at a premium. One question is the Lithium battery LiFPo4 (lithium ion phosphate) with a discharge rate of circa 2000 cycles?. I assume this unit is very expensive to buy here in UK, but this market is changing so quickly, prices will decline and make this technology affordable for most people. I appreciate your video - new subscriber.

Well explained. I thought the way you took us through from one to four 100w panels and the cable layout was excellent. A good"walk through"from beginning to end. Thanks.

The improvements you described you would want to see are all included in the Allpowers S2000 which I got for £750 from Allpowers.

So if i run 2s2p with 4 210w panels with 17 vmp, is a 100/50 mppt controller what i should get? And if i get two more panels would i want to do them as a 3s2p, and would the 100/50 mppt still work? Would i need fuses in the line if i did a 3s2p, i don't with a 2s2p from what I've read. Thanks for this video link!!

Brilliant video and real life test review ! I think this may well be the best portable Solar Generator available in UK market at this time,
I looked into and made enquiries into the Apex Flex System, and Jackery 1000w System, and according to their tech teams they are only available, in USA and Canada and designed to cater only for their 110v ac appliances.
This system however certainly seems to actually be a realistic viable option to keep certainly an essential appliance ( fridge etc) running during a power outage, and maybe, can this one, realise my dream to use a portable induction hob instead of a gas stove for my overland vehicle ??? it seems promising. Great review, I shall keep my eye on this product. 👍

Dad Vinci you've got mad buying that! That's for hardcore solar warriors, not 'Amateur-Vinci's '

good vid bro!
i would be ok with (2) 190w solar panels in series correct?
want to get the most out of charge time, but not over.
only pulling 40 or so odd volts and 380 watts...
max is 60 volts.
each panel is 20.4 volts.
can max pull 500 watts.
right?
thanks!!

I saw this comment over at Hobotech and wonder if the UK version also has this now...

UPS dropped off my new EB150 today, I unboxed it and plugged the charger into it. They have upgraded the charger to a 212 watt fancooled unit so the charge time is reduced and I also noticed the 12 volt port now puts out 13.7 volts! ''

1500Wh ist die Kapazität des Akkus. Das Gerät leistet 1000Watt aber nicht dauerhaft. Die Batterie hat 14, 4 Volt/ 107, 5 Ah (gemessen!) Pro Zelle also 2, 39 AH.

I'm enjoying watching your videos mate I'm thinking about buying my first battery instead of going down the leisure battery route in my small Nissan Elgrand camper but I'm so undecided how much power I need and how much I want to spend hahah as I cant seem to find jockeys in the uk I've looked at the all power 666 which seems the best value for money to power but then I'm not sure if an even smaller one would work and be easier to charge or if an even bigger one like this monster in this video would be best cuz it would last longer but then it would take ages to charge!

Hi DADvinci, great review, thank you.
Could I connect 3 X 200W solar panels for charging this machine? I have seen charging will not work if the panels output exceed 60V (error code), but then you could hook up in parallel. What will happen if the Wattage exceed 500? I think there's other parameters also... ampere?

Would prefer to purchase 2 X 250W panels but could only find 200W panels in our area...

Hello Adrian. Thanks for this great review. I'm wanting to purchase the same unit (EB150 - black) for Australian specs (230-240 V, 50Hz). I've tried contacting MAXOAK regarding this question but with little success. So my question(s) are: Do you know if MAXOAK produce the EB150 for use in Australia and if so, from where can the Australian variant be purchased? Cheers. G.

Solar charge 0 to 100 how long? Also, can u charge it while using it with solar? and if you can does it drain the battery a lot in terms of will you get back more or less battery? In case you are confused about what I said, when your laptop battery is low, you can charge and use it and it will still charge it to the max while you use it. With the solar charge and play is that the same case ? or you will lose more power then you are getting back?
