Cranky Jeep! 2018 Jeep Cherokee 2.4L Crank No Start.

In this video we are diagnosing a 2018 Jeep Cherokee with the 2.4L Multiair engine, for a cranks, but wont start issue.

This issue started out of the blue. The customer went out to start the vehicle one morning, but found that it would only crank. This vehicle had several parts thrown at it including a crank sensor, and an ECM (Engine Control Module.)

Just incase anyone else has a crank no start with no compression, I just fixed one. It has a Multi air system that need oil to actuate the intake valves. Just hold your accelerator pedal to the ground to disable the fuel injectors, and crank the engine over for 10 seconds. Let it rest a min, then repeat. This primed the oil, and on the third time, start it normal. Fired right up.

This is for the 2.4L. If you left for vacation and came back and it just won’t start, try this. Haven’t seen any videos so just thought it post it here.

Thank you for the video. Good job. Did you try testing voltage at the ASD relay Terminal 87, while cranking, before replacing the TIPM? Or, try swapping the ASD relay?
