Learn the barre cords as soon as possible. I know it is hard and your hands hurt a lot at the beginning but you have to keep on trying, After a couple of days of solid training you will be able to play this.
You will have to learn the barre cords anyway if you want to play on the guitar.

Actually, the secret is play like hendrix, so that you can use your pinky to do the flickoffs to get the sound that frusciante makes AND use your thumb, go check his under the bridge video (from frusciante himself) he talks shortly about it.

Well ofcourse it is somewhat rude to say it's easy, you are right on that. But still, he could've placed it in here instead of just the chords, it's more of a shout out to the uploader than to the people who can't play it. This is something anyone can just google since that's probably more clear than looking at someone's hands. However if he had shown the solo here, that oughta help a lot of people out, because like you stated; Not everyone has the money to pay for guitar lessons.
