🌊 Representation in water bottles to scale of all the water used by country in a year

⚠️ Water Use: can refer to water withdrawn or water consumed. In our data it refers to water witdrawn.

The data on water consumption in the world is provided by the United Nations (UN, UNESCO, and FAO, see list of publications below).

Worldwide, agriculture accounts for 70% of all water consumption, compared to 20% for industry and 10% for domestic use. In industrialized nations, however, industries consume more than half of the water available for human use. Belgium, for example, uses 80% of the water available for industry.

Norway: 1700 L water used, every day, by every persona.
Its common to leave the water running for extended periods of time. Shower time, anything between 5 - 30 minutes... normal.
Washing dishes, leaves the tap running. Garden hose, leave it running. Spray everywhere, tap water all the time. Water them plants, water the lawn, water the river. Gotta get that flow going ya know? Did I mention its not like I've seen many places.. "tap water running", and its just dripping basically. No. Regular pressure is like a firehose compared to other countries.

So I get why Norway use more water, per person, every day. Compared to Sweden and Denmark, and many other countries in Europe.

AND HERE COMES AFGHANISTAN.
2674 L daily water used... Sure, laughs in desert and dry climate.
