Harry Bosch embarks on the next chapter of his career and finds himself working as a private investigator with his one-time enemy, Honey Chandler. The show will also follow the trajectory of a cop from police academy to street, as Bosch’s daughter, Maddie, joins the force.

Bosch: Legacy is coming to Freevee, the brand new name for IMDb TV, in May 2022. The first 4 episodes will be streaming on May 6, followed by 2 episodes each on the following 3 Fridays. Season 1 continues some plot lines from season 7 of Bosch, and pulls some elements from The Wrong Side Of Goodbye.

IMDb TV, soon to be called Freevee, is a free, ad-supported streaming service that allows you to stream premium movies and TV shows without purchasing a subscription. It is an App and also available as a channel within Prime Video. It is currently available in the USA, the UK, and soon Germany. If it’s not available in your country, you’ll find Bosch: Legacy via Prime Video.

Bosch one of the best detective series ever. They stopped the original series far to early. A very strong cast. Still, looking forwards to the new show.

After viewing the first 4 episodes of BOSCH: LEGACY (no spoilers ahead), we pick up with Harry beginning his new life as a private investigator. This first season is based on Michael Connelly's novel THE WRONG SIDE OF GOODBYE which in itself is an oblique reference to both the title and plot of Raymond Chandler's THE LONG GOODBYE, certainly one of the early crime novels to elevate the genre to be more appreciated as an art form. We have plenty of art from Mr Connelly in his own books because he has renewed the police procedural as an art form in itself. No one does it better, not even Ed McBain who was possibly one of the best at this sub-genre before MC. Harry may be a private eye now but he is still a dogged policeman at heart because even though he handed in his badge at the end of BOSCH Season 7, you cannot take the cop out of Harry. Madison Lintz and Mimi Rogers reprise their roles as Maddie Bosch and Honey Chandler (there's that name again!) respectively. Both actors have more to do now and that is a real pleasure to witness their fine performances and them as symbols of strong women trying to make a difference for the better in a world largely screwed up by violent men. Even Honey seems to have returned to the law with a renewed sense of the need for justice and to improve the justice system. Titus Welliver's Bosch is still the same intense and intrepid figure and the character has even more edge if that is possible. The great thing about the Bosch character is that he has a reserved compassion that drives his sense of justice forward. I'm watching this on Prime (brilliant producer Eric Overmeyer is still with the new show) but coming very shortly we also have the new LINCOLN LAWYER series on Netflix. On top of that, we also have the continuing adventures of Harry Bosch and Renee Ballard in the books, the latest of which is THE DARK HOURS. Michael Connelly is spoiling us and there is still the same quality on all fronts. If you haven't checked out the MC website, that is another beautifully organised pleasure with all the latest information and links to even more from the prolific Mr Connelly, who has really reinvigorated the entire crime fiction genre. What I appreciate most about his writing is that it is direct and straightforward in the best Orwellian style and just like Orwell, still packs an idealistic punch much like Connelly's main characters also. It's a deceptively simple style but it works so well, sitting well with both his characters and the locale of Los Angeles, also the locale for Chandler's Philip Marlowe. I also appreciate MC's references to the history of the genre, usually oblique but always a nice touch. I'm sure I have missed quite a few but hope to pick them up on subsequent re-readings if only to enjoy his style of writing more. MC has created a very significant addition to the form that he himself obviously admires, and we are his recipients and witnesses. It's a wonderful thing!

I am so excited for this, but I have to say this music in the trailer was a miss. I hope the tone of this series follows the original and is not a cheaper feeling show.
