do we really need maven to develop web application or we can develop web application with maven...i using netbeans IDE 8.x

thanks a lot miss for uploading this, it is working in glassfish 4.1 server but is not working in apache tomcat, when I am running this example using apache tomcat, It shows this error :

BeanFactory not initialized or already closed - call 'refresh' before accessing beans via the ApplicationContext

but why i don't know, I am new in spring and hibernate please can you help me?

Thank you very much for nice and useful explanation.
I am using Netbeans 8.2. Whenever I added the Spring MVC and Hibernate and ran the project to check, I got this error.


To see the full stack trace of the errors, re-run Maven with the -e switch.
Re-run Maven using the -X switch to enable full debug logging.

Can you tell me what is the reason please?
