This video is so much fun! Those books were my favourite children's books as well when I was growing up, especially Pluk van de Petteflet. Annie M.G. Schmidt is certainly one of my heroes. She wrote so many wonderful stories during her life time!

These are beautiful! I think I will always put the literature I read as a child on a pedestal because I have so many happy memories of reading them all.

I'm from Estonia and everyone I know have read Wiplala. It's such a good book for children!

I am an Estonian and not Dutch but one of my childhood favourites (in translation, of course ;) is Schmidt's Wiplala. I think I read this book 20 or more times... I was utterly charmed by this little creature that could do magic (I believe there was a certain word for this but no way I know what it is in English :) ) Great video, I always like childhood favourites getting appreciation.

Absolutely love everything Annie M.G. Schmidt has done. Pluk van de Petteflet especially! I still find it hilarious that the horse is called Langhors.

I have not read any of those books, but I did read Wiplala and Minoes many times as a kid (in the Icelandic translation). I especially love Minoes and have read it so many times, it's so adorable. I have a picture of me with the wax sculpture of Annie M. G. Schmidt from when I went to Amsterdam.

I used to love Jip en Janneke.  I don't know the other two but am going to look for them when I am next in the Netherlands. I would love to hear about more of your childhood books. I'm always on the lookout for ones that I've missed so far.

Lovely vlog Sanne! I loved that little card of Jip en Janneke you sent me <3 But that scene with them meeting in the bush just now looked so familiar, and when I phoned my mother tonight I mentioned it and she said she thinks I may have read it as Mick and Mandy in the library when I visited my godmother in Oxford when I was little as it looked familiar to her also! x

Did you know HEMA has opened in Londen? So now you can get all your Jip and Janneke stuff there too (and stroopwafels too).

This book brings back so many good memories! I love Annie M.G. Schmidt. I used to read in Ziezo: de 347 kinderversjes all the time.

Those books look and sound lovely. I hope someday I'll be able to get translated copies of them. ^^

I have never heard of this author. Sometimes I wonder how we can live right next to each other and never learn about such treasures. (I live in Germany)

This is child sentiment for me! My favorite was Floddertje (and Pluk) by far, but I really loved all of them. Such a nice video :)

Awww 'Floddertje' was one of my favourite books as a child and my mum used to read it to me (the Greek translation because Greek is my native language) almost every night :')
