Pope Francis Extends Female Priest Ban FOREVER

"Pope Francis has ruled out a woman ever serving as a priest in the Roman Catholic church.

The declaration is not a change in stance for the Argentinian pope, who has always said the door was closed on women being ordained as priests.

But when he was asked and then pressed on the matter by a Swedish journalist during a press conference onboard the papal plane, Francis suggested the ban would be eternal.

“Saint Pope John Paul II had the last clear word on this and it stands, this stands,” Francis said in his initial response, referring to a 1994 document stating that women could never join the priesthood.

“But for ever, for ever? Never, never?” the reporter asked in a follow-up question, as the papal delegation flew back to Rome from Sweden on Tuesday.

Francis replied: “If we read carefully the declaration by St John Paul II, it is going in that direction.”

The pope went on to say women did “many other things better than men”, emphasising what has been called the “feminine dimension of the church”.

“People ask me: ‘Who is more important in the theology or in the spirituality of the church, the apostles or Mary, on the day of Pentecost?’ It is Mary,” he said. He then added: “More.”

But Francis’s praise of women will do little to comfort feminist Catholics who want women to have a broader role in the church, including ordination.”*

Actually the Bible does say women should never be in authority over men so this really shouldn't surprise anyone. It's a 2000 year old book. What do you expect?

As a Roman Catholic, I am proud of Pope Francis.

I think this was a good thing
Women should not be Priest, they should go out...get an Education...become Doctors or Engineers. Let Men deal with this shitty job...

2:38 "There isn't even any part of the bible that says women can't be

1 Corinthians 14 34-35 " *Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak* ; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: *for it is a shame for women to speak in the church*."

So much for that "extensive" research. Only the best from TYT as always

Cenks understanding of how the bible was put together and the timeline of the synoptic gospels reveals him to be wrong.

I'm so grateful pope Francis did the right thing. If a woman wants to become a priest she can go and check out other churches that allow women to become priest.

I understand that some people want everyone and everything to be progressive but you have to respect peoples beliefs even if you don't agree with them as long nobody is getting hurt.

it's in the bible, kinda hard to fault the pope for following it *shrug*

Not his place to change it. It's in the Bible and more importantly his predecessors confirmed that reading of the book. It is what it is. Bigger fish to fry, if you don't like it switch to a softer denomination.

This isn't Francis' decision. He can stand by things he doesn't personally agree with for the sake of his church.

I think it's outrageous to say you're "disappointed" in him.

I honestly don't get the beef...y'all are not the ones running the Catholic Church, they have their own ways of organization

Well actually, in 1 Timothy 2:11-14 it states, "woman must learn in quietness and full submissiveness. I do not permit a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man she is to remain quiet. For Adam was formed first, and then Eve. And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman who was deceived and fell into transgression. Women, however, will be saved through childbearing, if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control." Not that I agree with those verses, but it does state that women aren't allowed to have a role in the church.

read the book of Timothy. They flat out spell it out for you that no woman can speak in church and cannot have power over a man. Not really a way to interpret that differently.

Cenk, your ignorance on Christianity is appalling. I enjoy your political commentary but you need to do your homework on Christianity our please leave it alone.

Why do they keep calling the creator of heaven and earth in a derogatory name? Even if they don't believe and prefer paganism or atheism (both of which make no logical sense in my opinion), very disrespectful.

*The irony is that there's a non-canonical gospel (Papyrus Berolinensis 8502 aka TheGospel of Mary) where Jesus is like "Hey, when I die I want my wife to be the next leader of our church" and the apostles basically ignored his wishes because she was a woman and no snowball's chance in hell were they gonna be second in command to a woman.* There's also a non-canonical gospel where e learn before Eve there was Lilith, who was made separate from Adam and was cast out by God for refusing to be subservient to Adam.

What business do a bunch of atheists have telling a church what it's policy should be? If the situation were reversed you guys would be kicking and screaming about religious oppression. Hypocrites will hypocritical I guess.
