I like the idea and it seems pretty easy to modify depending on your needs. Like:
- 2 shelves if you don't need 3. (it would also be shorter and might fit in a better area.
- 2 shelves and replace the 3 shelf space with a basket to hold action items/mail/whatnot

That's a really cute project. You can do so many things with that, if you make something deeper, it can be an organizer on the wall, pictures, plants along with the calendars... that inspires all kind of possibilities. One thing that I would think that you'd need is some kind of ledge, or lip, or you could make a grove or a tray to keep the calendar from falling or the pen from rolling. As far as calendars go, I personally like it in my electronic calendar to give me reminders no matter if I am home or not... but, I also like a physical calendar too. I use a large format that I hang it on the side of my fridge. To mark the day I use a round metal magnet with a rubber ring around it . Each day I move it on the calendar... and what I noticed the most is just how fast the weeks fly by and the month... I mean what happened to it?

Love Love Love this idea as well as many others we've found here. The huge garage or warehouse storage shelf idea takes the cake however! No more expensive shelf systems from Lowes or Uline which are nice, however we have tons of 1" and 2" used crate lids and sides that we can now put to use. And plenty of steel angle available. We found Ana White plans while seeking plans for vintage style shipping crates to ship machine parts etc. From our machine shop/warehouse space in eastern NC.
