Just ordered one of these from Guitar Center, and after all was said and done I only paid $504 out the door. Gets here Monday and I can't wait, so my PRS will have to do for now.

Just got one and construction wise it's as good as it gets. Nice wide chunky SG STD neck from the early 2000s is back. The sound is spot on classic Gibson SG Angus Young all the way. Only thing I am having an issue with is a static-y noise every time I move the guitar when plugged in. It's not the cord nor the amp as it doesn't do this with another Gibson I have, it's something to do with the crappy PCB wiring harness the latest Gibson USA guitars come with. I'm not taking the guitar back but I think I will soon gut the wiring harness in favor or something more akin to what Gibson put in their instruments back in the day. Other than that, this new SG Standard T for $1000 out the door new is fantastic.

Hey guys. I am a Fender guy but I have been venturing into gibson territory. I really like this guitar but I also have another guitar I like too. The other guitar is the Gibson faded les paul studio 2016 @ $800. I am starting to play a little bit of metal, I play nirvana, pink floyd, and other stuff from the 60s-90s. Which one should I get and why?

I got this same guitar in ebony in 2005! Leave it up to Gibson to treat a guitar like it's new, but it's the same fucking guitar they made 10 years ago.

What makes the 2016 SG Standard appealing immediately is no G-Force tuner. My '15 SG Special had it and it can be a hassle. I would not recommend using it live.

In 2014 and 2015 Gibson decided to screw left-handed people by not making a lefty version of their SG Standard. Has this mean spirited decision continued for their 2016 SG Standard models or is there a left-hand version once again????

Well joey i found a real gem a Jay Tu
rser JT 50 Custom Sg with gold hardware and Binding gorgeous..now the tone and quality..i also own a 2004 Gibson standard Sg and absolutely no difference in tone..the Turser feel is brilliant..so is the craftsmanship...it screams Sg all the way..so its true just because its not made in the united states and doesn't. Have a outrageous price tag doesnt mean its not professional quality..the Jay Turser JT 50 Custom Sg most certainly proves that..i will not ever let this guitar go..oh by the way i have been playing..44 years so this isnt coming from some kid..and by the way the tuners on the Turser are 16:1 ratio..not bad at all

No Gibson period is worth the outrageous prices they are...especially the past 20+ years ...horrible craftsmanship..and quality..Gibson have always been overrated and over priced ..this why their millions in debt ..losing major endorsements left and right ..Gibson has always Ripped off the consumer ...even Les paul himself loved his Epiphone Les pauls and was not thrilled about Gibsons...this is fact...Epiphones are the better hands down...love the G-400 Pro SG..over The Gibson Standard SG...
