In this video, I show how to plant collard greens for beginners. I plant the seeds indoors because it's still hot outside. If you plant them outside they will grow well but I don't want pests to bother them. When my seedlings are ready to go outside the pest will be mostly gone. I use several tips to get the seedlings to a good start. If you are having trouble germinating seeds use vermiculite as the topsoil will help the seeds push through. The main reason for this is because vermiculite is very light and the tiny seeds will push through it. Sifting out the potting soil will remove large woodchip chunks that normally block the small seeds from sprouting. To keep fungus down I use cinnamon to cover the vermiculite. Cinnamon has anti-fungal properties. This will definitely stop the fungus from killing all the seedlings.

I use Foxfarm Ocean Floor. So far, germination has been successful.
They were planted in 5 gallon tomato buckets. They have been producing for several years.
