The real struggle is when you prefer the comfort of reading a nice soft paperback, but think hardcovers look better on your shelf.

If only I was rich enough to buy two copies of every book

😂As much as I love hardcover, reading a smooshy paperback is so cozy.🍵📕

I have the opposite problem. I love to buy paperbacks because they're so much cheaper, but hardcovers are so much easier to read (in my opinion, at least) since it's easy to prop them open, you don't have to use both hands, I don't have to bend the spine out of shape just to read the words near the middle where the pages meet, ect.

Paper backs get messed up too easily when i read them, and i'm pretty ocd when it comes to how my books look so i get really frustrated

I prefer to read hardbacks- I like to be able to prop them open

Yass! So me. Now you should do one about having to wait for your most anticipated releases but have to wait a year for them to come out in PB.

I do not have this problem at all. I understand that people like having books in PERFECT condition, but I don't want a book just because it looks pretty (even though they do), I want to read it! So I will pick up that nice hardcover and just enjoy the book.

I don't lend my books regardless of if they are hard or soft cover because no-one looks after them!

What my struggle is that hardcovers even though they could potentially be heavier they are easier to read but getting a brand new paperback is so refreshing

I honestly just always use and lend hardcovers unless only the paperback is available. I like hardcovers because then I don't dog ear(I can use the book jacket as a bookmark if I don't have one on me) and bad things tend to happen with me and paperbacks.

When I really love books I'll normally buy two copies if I have super nice editions. I'll buy a cheap, used one (in good condition) from half price bookstore (which are always only a few dollars) and then the gorgeous editions! :D

I read hardcovers. In our country bookstores sell books mainly in a hardcover format. But there's difference between our hardcover and hardcover from foreign countries. If I want to buy a hardcover e.g. on bookdepository, it costs twice the price of paperback. In our country the paperback and the hardcover cost same price - usually something around the price of bookdepository's paperbacks (usually from 10 to 15 dollars). It's hard to get books in paperbacks here. But if you are careful enough to not damage hardcover during reading, problem solved.

I am currently trying to find hardcovers for books I already own lol. But that just means I will give my softcovers away to someone who will appreciate it.

I love hardbacks. They are my favorite. You can worry less about damaging the book and you prop it in your lap. Plus they look SO good on your shelf! I'm super careful with my books, but if you accidentally damage the book while you read it you can just put the dust jacket on and it's like good as new. I love reading without dust jackets they are so pretty but if you try to red with them they are so slippery. I only read with dust jackets out in public because I don't trust people. Lol

I'm so glad it's not just me. I thought I was crazy for wanting to own hardbacks but keep paperbacks to read

I love HB but I don't like reading with them, such a struggle as you can't bend the cover. They look awesome on the shelf though. I prefer reading with paperbacks.

Hahah! That's totally me! Made my friends take turns with my paperback copies of The Hunger Games when I owned the hardcovers too. (>, <)
