This is our last vlog in Turkey and our last day in Istanbul! We've had such an amazing time in our last 6 weeks discovering Turkey. We've seen so much and eaten tons as well. Today's vlog is all about eating what we loved in Turkey and doing or eating what we didn't get a chance to do last time we we're in Istanbul! I mean we snacked quite a bit: Baklava, fresh strawberries, dates, nuts, street corn, roasted chestnuts, baked potatoes, chicken durum, Aryan, Turkish coffee, Turkish delight, and Turkish ice cream. On top of that we saw: the spice market, Galata Bridge, men fishing on the bridge, Galata tower, Istanbul's tulip festival, learned about Turkish carpets and of course finished the day at the Hagia Sofia and Blue mosque.

Stay tuned for more upcoming videos, we post twice a week, every Sunday and Wednesday.

Thanks for watching! 😄

First of all, welcome to Turkey. I live in Izmir, I am 19 years old and I am preparing for the university entrance exam. I've been following your videos with love since the beginning and I've been watching them with love. You are such a sweet couple. It is good for me to see people who enjoy life like you these days when I am bored and preparing for the exam. Enjoy Turkey🥰

Just got home from there… spice market was so cool! I got a knock off LV there. We weren’t allowed to eat the street food (per tour guide).

Turkish ice cream is not made from goat milk. I mean if a few places use it, I’ve never heard of it and they may be an exception but normally regular milk is used. Here is a better explanation that I pulled from Wikipedia which perfectly explains why it is sticky like that: “Two qualities distinguish Turkish ice cream: hard texture and resistance to melting, brought about by inclusion of the thickening agents salep, a flour made from the root of the early purple orchid, and mastic, a resin that imparts chewiness.”

By the way it’s kind of disappointing to see that you were turned off of beef/lamb products in Turkey just because of your experience earlier which may not have directly related to that durum you ate to begin with. Turkey has absolutely amazing kebabs like Iskender kebap and Adana Kebap, which I wish you tried. You should have checked out the cheap joint that Anthony Bourdain raved about in his episode about Turkey. It is an affordable place and trust me they use good meats, as do most places in Turkey. Anyway if you ever come back to turkey, I hope you will try more stuff from our cuisine.

Also, that hospital is not an exception when it comes to modern hospitals in Turkey. You said it felt like a different country but how many other hospitals have you been to in turkey to even compare that to? You said “compared to downtown Istanbul” which suggests downtown Istanbul (which I assume you mean Taksim, as there is no official downtown Istanbul ) is not modern, which is incorrect and I’m sorry that your Airbnb was in a not that great neighborhood, but all the neighborhoods I lived in Istanbul and frequent are all modern an all the hospitals I go to are modern.

And just for your information next time you can go to “American hospital” which is in Nisantasi (an amazing and fancy neighborhood that you didn’t seem to have checked out but it is close to Taksim), and although you won’t find American doctors at the Amerikan Hastanesi, you can be sure that most of the staff if not all of them speak English there. ....Anyway, all in all, I hope to see you in Turkey again and maybe you can visit other resort towns in the west and south coast of Turkey like Bodrum and Ayvalik, etc.
