Something like a taskbar with two slots for multitasking apps is exactly what I would want for a foldable. IMO, dragging an app from the task bar to the center of the screen (ie between the panes) should launch it full screen, much like spanning an app on a Duo device. Maybe long pressing an app in the taskbar or app drawer would let it launch as a floating window. Very excited to see what 12L does for the Duo devices!

This is almost perfect - was wondering if there's a way to also make the text larger with this method. Thanks!!

Looks interesting I would kind of like Microsoft to put this in the bezel on the duo. Really looking forward to seeing how the Duo is used with 12L

Is there an update video about this for Android 13? The taskbar is available for all tablets running Android 13 right?

Pleaseeee is there anyway to use this taskbar on a s22 Ultra? it would be amazing, i could work so much faster on the phone

but I doubt this would be available for devices outside the pixels since every android oem uses their own skin, but I hope this penetrates through like the gesture navigation and android tablets overpower the iPad dominance.

Unrelated but what's your opinion on the fold 3?

Thanks

I would love that on my phone, even if it's just a phone. The more I use it the more I'm realizing i want a faster way to switch between my opened apps and the recent apps is becoming slow (i mean many taps and scrolls)

Unfortunately im using a oneplus phone running on android 13 but the taskbar doesn't show when i put 600 as smallest width. Worse, if i try to enlarge my font to compansate the small dpi, the system forcibly returns to 360 (original dpi)

I hope oneplus would make it available soon since oneplus open had this feature already.

The surface duo doesn’t even need to be updated every year. Just load us with features now and release something mind blowing hardware wise for next year.

The surface duo 2 is already the best device on earth as it is (yes, I mean it) most likely till next surface duo 3 tbh. There’s nothing and I mean nothing that comes close esp with the recent update in February.

The other foldables do nothing different, just bigger but the Duo rethinks the way you use a phone. It is just different and it challenges what you already knew, hence the negative publicity. People just want the same things all the time and that’s what the other foldables are. They do the same thing other phones do in a bigger way.

Can’t wait for Android 12L.

I'm using a custom ROM where this feature is part of it. It's so useful I couldn't go back

Try typing on one of the apps and see if the keyboard will be on one side (like on SD) of fill up the entire screen?

Did anyone was able to built a version of Android 12L that can be used on nova launcher?

You can do some things with android 11 but of course not as much as 12. As far as resizing goes.

The fundamental problem here is the issue with large screen devices can only ever be improved with developer support. I get 12L and forward heralds a new era for developers to better manage apps on a larger screen but that's what's important. Developers MUST buy into this else what Google or Samsung do from a UI point makes no difference overall.

Here are the limits of how many icons you can put in the taskbar.
• Stock Android: 6
• Galaxy Z Fold 3/4: 8 + All Apps
• Galaxy Tab S8: 14 + All Apps
(The All Apps button is placed on the left of the navigation bar.)

I have a surprise for you: you could have been enjoying the BOTTOM taskbar on your Galaxy Fold for a while, even before Android 12 which once again shows that Samsung innovates for Google and Google adapts Samsung changes in the main branch of Android later. And this is how you activate it:
- Precondition: you have to use the navigation bar.
- Open Good lock -> NavStar
- Activate the option "Show task stack" within "I 💟Galaxy Foldable"
- Just enjoy
And of course, it has auto-hide, too, depending on the auto-hide configuration of the navigation bar.
BTW: unlike the fix application side bar, the task bar shows the open tasks, from most-recently opened (left) to least-recently opened (right). I love it and could not without anymore.

Anyway to use the taskbar without setting it to 600 Taskbar is really cool, but 600 is too small.

I'm a long time Samsung owner, have had several of their phones. But, I still don't see the value in a folding phone. Way too fragile for something designed to be mobile. I am a fan of the Duo, dual screen devices make much more sense to me. However, I'm not paying more for a phone than a real laptop or even a tablet. Prices need to come down.
