In this video we will go over Etherchannel.
Etherchannel is a feature used to group multiple parallel links into one single logical interface. This is great for STP redundancy because STP will only need to reconverge if all links within the Etherchannel fails. It also provides load balancing.

Configuration Options

On/On - This will statically set the Etherchannel
Desirable / Desirable – Will create a PAgP Etherchannel
Desirable/Auto - Will create a PAgP Etherchannel
Active / Active – Will create a LACP Etherchannel
Active / Passive - Will create a LACP Etherchannel

Show Commands

show spanning-tree VLAN *VLAN Number*
show etherchannel summary
show interfaces port-channel *Interface Number*

My goodness...how easy was that. Good job because what you did in 11 minutes I couldn't understand in 1 hour of reading!

Studying for my ccna 200-301 exam with virtually zero prior i.t / computer experience and even though I am passed this portion in my studies I wanted a quick refresher course to reaffirm what I had previously learned since I wanted some clarification or a general overview of the topics to jog my memory a bit so thank you very much for providing such valuable and easily understandable content for free!

One thing I'd add is once the port channel is up, if you need to make configuration changes don't do them on just a single physical interface at a time or the port channel will come down due to things not matching. Instead make changes on the logical port channel interface and the Cisco device will automatically copy those changes to the physical interface configurations so that you don't take the whole interface down.

This video just helped me troubleshoot my packettracer issue. I was not able to get etherchannel working because the speed mismatch. I was using fastethernet for one port, and gigabit for the other!

THANK YOU

Good video and good explanation of LACP from the switch side. I work on rack servers and dealt with an issue of a port-channel being down that was causing unreachability issues for a server. We aren't sure what caused the configuration to go down but once we determined the issue was on the switch side and not the host side, we got the networking team to fix the issue. It was boggling my mind, the on-site technician, and their manager.

CERTBROS, clear, simple, awesome! love the way you present the concepts specially when there are examples in the CLI, 2 things I would recommend 1. please use the correct names on the CLI modes so people start getting used to the correct cisco naming Exec mode, privilege Exec, Global config etc... and 2. Please a video about trunks, switch trunks. Thank you!!!!

Good video. Suggestions though, 1. Do a shut command after int range. 2. Default port command after shut, and config all ports at one time. 3. Do the same on switch 2. Do a no shut on switch 2, then on switch 1.
