Is Climate Change Activism Structurally Racist? | Spilling The Black Tea | BBC The Social

The conversation that exists around climate change often centres on white, middle-class voices. Is that fair? Especially when there are voices of POC (people of colour) and ethnic minorities that are pushed aside to allow this narrative.

The people who have the closest links to climate change are often missing from the wider conversation. Welcome to Spilling the Black Tea. Join Amanda Calley as she navigates being Black in the UK and discusses different aspects of Black British history, culture and achievements.

We’re also on other channels too!

Is it not a form of racism to only feel represented if it is by a person of similar colour or culture? I am raised British, born in Malaya with an Irish father. Not sure I would ever find somebody who represents me if I applied they must be like me. I am happy for anybody to represent my views if they share them, irrespective of colour of culture.
It is right that many of those suffering pollution are because they are living in deprived areas, and that is the problem, why are there deprived areas, why are they living there, what can we do about it. People keep mentioning it but I hear very few solutions.

Eating too much and spouting a lot of hot air also contributes to global temperature increases.
