Although history tends to magnify this loss, Rome took it’s revenge. In 38 BCE, Publius Ventidus at the head of 11 legions, crushed a rebel Roman army and then obliterated the cataphract heavy huge army of Pacorus, , son of King Orodes, at the battle of Mount Gindarus, beheaded him and paraded his head through the provinces. Rome and Parthia did occasionally declare peace, most notably by Augustus Caesar around 20BCE who arranged the return of the Roman standards and supposedly Roman prisoners. There were periods of peace and Rome invaded and sacked the capital Ctesiphon several times but were never able to eliminate them or hold on to territory east of the Euphrates. Parthia, then Persia remained a thorn on their eastern border.

The Humiliations of Crassus. Does anybody think that there were many amongst the Headcount in Rome, who were secretly pleased at the rich man’s fall? The loss of the Srandards would have been a bitter pill, made palatable with Crassus’s tears.

as we already know rome will take revenge for this and reclame the standards and go the full measure in getting the last laugh in the end. but this will be long after the deaths of all of the first and second triumprative.

And we think our lives can be difficult and uncertain.
Consider also, that the population at that time was much smaller than it is now. So, 30, 000 plus soldiers under Roman command dying in a short perood of time, in todays comparative/equivalent numbers, is something like all the combatants in the American Civil war (which lasted 4 years) Horrific...

Roman legionnaries become the founders a Chinese city. The Chinese are the true successors to Rome's legacy.
